“Ready-About?” The Skipper calls to the crew to signal a tack across the direction of prevailing wind, or “Take the boat through the weather”.

Based in Seattle, WA and serving the entire Puget Sound region, Ready-About Canvas Works provides clever and elegant canvas system solutions to improve the experience of four-season boating. Our enclosures and covers are rugged and complement the aesthetics of your vessel; power and sailing, old and new, common and unique.

A member of the Marine Fabricators Association and the Advanced Textiles Association, and recipient of multiple Fabrication Excellence Awards, owner and fabricator Blake Rafferty combines an eye for style, two decades of mechanical and manufacturing engineering in aerospace, and years of sailboat racing, cruising, and year-round live aboard experience in the PNW to produce uncompromising, top-tier, fully custom systems. Ready-About Canvas Works uses only materials of pinnacle quality, primarily Sunbrella Marine Canvas, Serge-Ferrari Stamoid, YKK zippers, TuffakAR2 polycarbonate, and Strataglass clear vinyl. Every stitch is UV impervious Solar Fix PTFE thread.

Do you have an existing stainless steel dodger or Bimini frame structure in good shape? We're happy to work with that! If you need something new or want to upgrade, we are equipped and experienced to fabricate new stainless steel frames in house, and our network includes welders and machinists for more complex projects. Some of our signature features are thermal-formed PVC track to attach tops and panels to bulkheads and arches, and conformal solar arrays integrated on top of dodgers and Bimini tops. We can produce stitched or bonded window panels as well as integrate wiper systems and tempered glass inserts.

Cruising boats are more than a vehicle; they’re an escape. Your canvas should fit your taste, needs, and habits as a boater and a factory experience just doesn't cut it. The season doesn’t have to start and end with the long hot days of summer, so when you’re ready to take your boat through the weather, call Ready-About.
